During the attendance the 136th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, Chairman of the State Great Hural (Parliament) of Mongolia Mr. Miyegombo ENKHBOLD was elected as the Chairperson of the Asia-Pacific Group, who chaired the Group meeting on April 1, 2017.

The meeting was held discussing following issues:

- Approval of Asia-Pacific Group meeting notes held in Geneva, Switzerland on October 17, 2016;

- Hearing of the IPU Governing Council members’ reports;

- Promote an Asia-Pacific Group candidate for Forum of Young Parliamentarians of the IPU, Forum of Women Parliamentarians, Committee on Middle East Questions, and Committee on the Human Rights of Parliamentarians;

- Amendments to the Asia-Pacific group rules.

The Inter-Parliamentary Union comprises of six groups including the African Group, Arab Group, Asia-Pacific Group, Eurasia Group, Group of Latin America and the Twelve Plus Group.

The Asia-Pacific Group consists of 33 members from parliaments of Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Cambodia, Canada, China, Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Fiji, India, Indonesia, Iran (Islamic Republic of), Japan, Lao People's Democratic Republic, Malaysia, Maldives, Micronesia (Federated States of), Mongolia, Myanmar, Nepal, New Zealand, Pakistan, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Republic of Korea, Samoa, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Timor-Leste, Tonga and Viet Nam.
