Celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Constitution Day, the State Great Hural (Parliament) of Mongolia in collaboration with Mongolian Chess Federation have successfully organized the final games of 2017 State Amateur Chess Tournament in the State Palace on January 07-08, 2017.
The 2017 State Amateur Chess Tournament is the fifth contest that brought over 7,000 players from across the country, which began in November 2016. In the final 8 rounds, 134 competitors have played under swiss-system rules, of which 100 men and 34 women players for the championship titles.
In the men’s category, E.Enkh-Amgalan, 28, collected the maximum 8 points becoming the winner of 2017 State Amateur Chess Tournament, where M.Altangerel, 29, and B.Nasanjargal, 44, took the second and third positions.
The women’s category was led by G.Otgontuya, 18, followed by L.Munkhzaya, 26, and M.Jargalsaikhan, 62, and notably, both top three players are from the capital city. As customary, organizers nominated Mr. D.Naidan, 77, as the leading senior player. Moreover, parliamentarian G.Zandanshatar is proclaimed as the Intellectual amateur player of the 2017 event.
