Today, on 28 April 2025, Chairman of the State Great Hural (Parliament) of Mongolia D. Amarbayasgalan held an official meeting at the State Palace with Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea, His Excellency Mr. Woo Won-shik, who is paying an official visit to Mongolia.
At the beginning of the meeting, Chairman of the State Great Hural (Parliament) D. Amarbayasgalan warmly welcomed His Excellency Mr. Woo Won-shik and the accompanying delegation to Mongolia, extending congratulations on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and the Republic of Korea. He emphasized that the State Great Hural attaches great significance to this official visit being undertaken at the level of the Speaker of the National Assembly.
He highlighted that the Republic of Korea, as Mongolia’s important “third neighbor” and close “strategic partner” in the region, shares common values such as democracy, human rights, freedoms, and a market economy. He also reflected on the achievements of the past 35 years of bilateral cooperation and underlined the vital role played by the close ties and active collaboration between the two countries’ highest legislative bodies, parliamentary groups, and standing committees.
He further expressed Mongolia’s commitment to strengthening and expanding economic cooperation by increasing trade and investment, and by leveraging the two countries’ respective advantages and resources to develop mutually complementary economic ties, building upon the solid foundation of trusted relations and close friendship between their peoples.
The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea, U Won-shik, expressed his satisfaction with the strengthening of the legal foundation of political trust and relations between Mongolia and South Korea, as well as the stable continuation of high-level visits and discussions between the two countries.
He reaffirmed his commitment to further expanding cooperation between the parliaments of the two nations and emphasized efforts to enrich and develop economic cooperation, effectively implement joint projects and programs as planned, and create favorable conditions for Mongolian citizens traveling to South Korea for medical services, particularly by providing easier visa requirements. He assured that the National Assembly would pay attention to and support these initiatives.
