Chairman D. Amarbayasgalan Visits Satellite Applications Catapult Innovation Centre in the United Kingdom

As part of his official visit to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Chairman of the State Great Hural (Parliament) D. Amarbayasgalan visited the UK Government's Satellite Applications Catapult Innovation Centre on March 20, 2025.

The centre focuses on advancing space technologies and expanding their application across various sectors. Notably, Mongolian national B. Maral serves as a senior advisor at the centre. Recognized as one of the top 10 young researchers in the UK, she conducts research using satellite data. B. Maral earned her doctorate from the University of Oxford and holds the prestigious title of “Keeley Scholar.”

The Satellite Applications Catapult draws on satellite data dating back to the 1970s—the early days of satellite deployment—and collaborates with private sector partners on research in areas such as environmental protection, agriculture, urban planning, and mining. For example, satellite data is used to identify soil suitable for agriculture, select optimal sites for solar and wind power generation, and assess the environmental impact of mining operations.

During his visit, Chairman D. Amarbayasgalan discussed potential cooperation in emerging fields such as artificial intelligence, high technology, green development, and the labor market.
