Heads of Mongolia-Slovenia Parliamentary Groups Hold Virtual Meeting

Member of the State Great Hural (Parliament) and Head of the Mongolia-Slovenia Parliamentary Group B. Tuvshin held a virtual meeting today (2025.03.25) with Ms. Suzana Lep Šimenko, Member of the National Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia and Head of the Slovenia-Mongolia Parliamentary Group.

MP B. Tuvshin expressed his appreciation for this being the first meeting between the parliamentary groups, even in a virtual format, and emphasized that with the expansion of the State Great Hural to 126 members under the revised Constitution of Mongolia, there is now greater capacity to develop long-term and stable relations and cooperation between the two countries. He also expressed confidence in the parliament's ability to actively contribute to this goal.

MP Suzana Lep Šimenko highlighted that Mongolia and Slovenia celebrated the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2023, and mentioned the visit of Mongolia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs to Slovenia, as well as the state visit of Slovenian President Ms. Nataša Pirc Musar to Mongolia in 2024. She noted these events as milestones in the deepening relationship between the two countries and shared that regular elections for the 90-member Slovenian National Assembly will be held next year.

The heads of the parliamentary groups discussed strengthening bilateral cooperation in the economic and legal sectors, as well as potential collaboration in agriculture, crop production, tourism, and forestry. They agreed to explore these topics in more depth in future meetings, with the involvement of relevant standing committees and ministries to ensure practical discussions.

The virtual meeting was also attended by MPs L. Sornzombold and G. Ochirbat, members of the Mongolia-Slovenia Parliamentary Group, and Mr. Samo Novak, Secretary of the Slovenia-Mongolia Parliamentary Group.
