Chairman of the Standing Committee on Justice D. Tsogtbaatar Receives Report on the Prevention of Torture

In accordance with the Law on the National Human Rights Commission of Mongolia and the Law on the Procedure of Sessions of the State Great Hural (Parliament), the member in charge of preventing torture is required to submit an annual report on torture prevention activities to the Standing Committee on Justice during the first quarter of each year.


On March 28, 2025, Ya. Tselmen, the member of the National Human Rights Commission responsible for the prevention of torture, submitted the report for the previous year to Chairman of the Standing Committee on Justice D. Tsogtbaatar and exchanged views on current challenges.

Chairman D. Tsogtbaatar emphasized, “It is essential to assess how effectively the laws are being implemented on the issues raised in the report. The State has a duty to protect its citizens. We must pay attention to this and consider introducing international best practices.”


The Standing Committee on Justice will review the 2024 report on torture prevention activities. If deemed necessary, it will develop draft legislation and submit it along with relevant proposals and conclusions to a plenary session of the State Great Hural.
