Today (2025.03.31), MPs J. Chinburen, N. Batsumberel, A. Ariunzaya, and J. Aldarjavkhlan submitted the draft Law on Blood Donation to Chairman of the State Great Hural (Parliament) D. Amarbayasgalan.
According to demographic projections, the proportion of the population classified as active blood donors (ages 24–45) is expected to decline, making it increasingly important to ensure the stability of the national supply of blood and blood products. The World Health Organization reports that out of 171 countries with national blood programs, 110 have enacted specific legislation to regulate the safety and quality of blood transfusion services.
The initiators stated that the adoption of the draft law would improve the legal framework governing the sector, enhance training and public awareness campaigns on blood donation, and contribute to progress in rural and local areas. They also noted that improved social welfare and incentives for blood donors could help increase the number of voluntary donors. In addition, the law would help ensure a stable supply of blood and blood products during times of disaster and public health emergencies.
