The State Greeting Ceremony for the Year of the Blue Snake was held on the morning of the second day of the first month of spring in the XVII cycle of the Mongolian lunar calendar (March 1, 2025), in a grand and solemn manner.
President of Mongolia Khurelsukh Ukhnaa, Chairman of the State Great Hural Amarbayasgalan Dashzegve, and Prime Minister Oyun-Erdene Luvsannamsrai paid their respects to the Nine White Banners and performed the traditional State Greeting Ceremony. The country’s leaders exchanged well wishes, offered snuff bottles in respect, and shared blessings for prosperity and harmony while partaking in the ceremonial offerings.
As part of the tradition, the State Khan Khuur (State Morin Khuur) was played to symbolize the ushering in of an auspicious and prosperous year, praying for national peace and the well-being of the people. The performance was conducted by State Honored Artist Ts. Soyol-Erdene, who recited blessings and praises alongside the State Khan Khuur.
On this auspicious occasion, the head abbot of the Gandantegchinlen Monastery, Lkharamba D. Javzandorj, attended the State Greeting Ceremony to extend New Year blessings to the President, Chairman of the State Great Hural, and Prime Minister.
The State Greeting Ceremony also upheld the tradition of honoring elderly representatives from across the country. This year, D. Gombo, 101, from Khentii Province; D. Lkhagva, 91, from Uvurkhangai Province; T. Baatar, 90, and D. Davaanamjil, 86, from Gobi-Altai Province; O. Ragchaa, 88, and B. Ochirbat, 83, from Zavkhan Province; Ts. Ulziibayar, 87, from Sukhbaatar Province; D. Renchinkhand, 84, from Dornod Province; and Ch. Avdai, 82, from Uvs Province were invited to the State Ceremonial Hall, where they were warmly welcomed by the national leaders, who extended heartfelt New Year greetings and well wishes, according to the Press Office of the State Great Hural.
