"Parliament internship" program launched to enhance transparency and youth engagement in the legislature

In an effort to increase the transparency and openness of the State Great Hural (Parliament) of Mongolia, promote parliamentary awareness among students, and enhance their knowledge, information access, and participation, a working group has been established by order of the Chairman of the State Great Hural to implement the "Open Parliament" student internship program.

As part of this initiative, the working group successfully conducted the "Open Parliament" program over the course of one month, selecting 100 top students from accredited domestic and international universities actively engaged in academic activities.

Building on this success, 30 students from the initial cohort have been selected for the second phase, the "Parliament internship" program, which will be implemented over a four-month period.

The official launch of the program took place on March 10, 2025. The selected 30 students will participate in a paid internship from March 10 to July 1, 2025, gaining firsthand experience at the Secretariat of the State Great Hural and its affiliated organizations.

Through this program, students will have the opportunity to familiarize themselves with and engage in the legislative process, deepen their theoretical knowledge of the Constitution of Mongolia, government structure, and other legislative matters, and establish connections with MPs, parliamentary staff, and fellow students from diverse academic fields. Additionally, they will be involved in the daily activities of standing committees as well as research and development initiatives at the Parliamentary Research and Development Institute.
