Chairman of the State Great Hural D. Amarbayasgalan received the draft amendments to laws concerning the protection of human rights and freedoms from MP and Minister of Justice and Home Affairs O. Altangerel today (2025.01.24).
The proposed amendments include revisions to the Law on Legal Assistance to increase the scope and accessibility of free legal aid for vulnerable groups. It aims to align public service activities of legal professionals with this objective. Additionally, the proposed amendments to the Law on Advocacy seek to integrate these efforts effectively.
The draft also introduces changes to the Law on Violations, expanding the range of individuals exempt from custodial penalties based on legitimate social needs. It aims to reduce the use of custodial sentences for certain violations specified in the law's special provisions and incorporate new offenses based on recent laws enacted by the State Great Hural.
Moreover, amendments to the Law on the Procedure for Resolving Violations aim to improve efficiency in addressing violations, minimize delays and inconveniences for participants in legal proceedings, and facilitate the adoption of electronic processes. The revisions also include proposed changes to the Law on the Legal Status of Lawyers.
Minister O. Altangerel emphasized that the draft amendments address multiple aspects to enhance legal processes, reduce burdens on participants, and ensure timely resolution of cases.
