MP and Chairman of the Standing Committee on Industrial Policy, S. Ganbaatar, hosted a meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of India to Mongolia, Mr. Atul Malhari Gotsurve. Chairman S. Ganbaatar emphasized the long-standing spiritual connection between Mongolia and India, describing the two nations as true strategic partners.
Ambassador Gotsurve provided updates on India’s ongoing development projects in Mongolia, including the oil refinery project, the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Centre for Excellence in Information Technology & Outsourcing, and the India-Mongolia Friendship Secondary School. He also highlighted India’s development partnership programs, noting that 200 Mongolians participate annually in professional training initiatives, while 40 students receive scholarships for undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral studies.
MPs M. Mandkhai and M. Gankhuleg also attended the meeting, sharing insights from their recent participation in the Global Cooperative Summit held in New Delhi. During the summit, the Mongolian delegation met with representatives from India’s Ministry of Cooperation and related organizations, learning about their operations. MP Mandkhai underscored the significant role of agriculture in Mongolia’s economy, particularly livestock farming, and advocated for integrating cooperative principles with regional development strategies and mega projects. She stressed that Mongolia could learn much from India’s cooperative practices. MP Gankhuleg expressed interest in extending India’s training programs to include agricultural cooperatives and representatives from various Mongolian regions, ensuring equitable participation.
Ambassador Gotsurve shared his personal connection to cooperatives, having grown up in a cooperative family, and expressed readiness to collaborate further in this area.
