Deputy Speaker of the State Great Hural (Parliament) B. Purevdorj meets Ambassadors of the French Republic and the European Union

On December 11, 2024, Deputy Speaker of the State Great Hural (Parliament) and Head of the Mongolia-France Parliamentary Group B. Purevdorj met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the French Republic to Mongolia, Corinne Pereira Da Silva, and the Ambassador of the European Union to Mongolia, Ina Marciulionyte.


At the beginning of the meeting, Deputy Speaker B. Purevdorj provided an overview of the 2024 parliamentary elections in Mongolia, their results, and the formation of the coalition government. He highlighted the political stability that ensures the protection of democracy, rule of law, and free market principles, noting that Mongolia is on the path of development and progress. He also mentioned one of the 14 mega-projects outlined in the government’s program—the uranium project that was agreed upon during the state visits of the President of Mongolia, U. Khurelsukh, and the President of the French Republic, Emmanuel Macron, in 2023. He further informed the ambassadors that the State Great Hural is making necessary amendments to the Nuclear Energy Law to accelerate the implementation of the project.

Deputy Speaker B. Purevdorj emphasized that the Mongolia-France joint uranium project holds significant importance not only for the economies of the two countries but also for the energy sector of European Union countries. He expressed confidence that the ambassadors would support and work on the successful realization of the project.


Ambassador Corinne Pereira Da Silva stressed that the Mongolia-France joint uranium project is crucial for advancing Mongolia’s economic and energy development and strengthening its independence. She expressed confidence that bilateral cooperation would continue to grow and expand in the future.

Ambassador Ina Marciulionyte noted that investors from European Union countries are closely monitoring the progress of the Mongolia-France joint uranium project and that it would become a major bridge for expanding cooperation between Mongolia and the European Union. She also introduced plans to organize a Mongolia-Europe business forum in 2025.
