MP and Chair of the Standing Committee on Budget, Ts. Davaasuren, met with Martin Orlando, Counselor at the Embassy of Uruguay.
Chair of the Standing Committee on Budget Ts. Davaasuren began the meeting by emphasizing Mongolia’s strong commitment to fostering friendly relations and cooperation with Uruguay under the Third Neighbor Policy. Despite geographical distance, he noted the similarities between the two nations, including their populations of around three million, their location between two larger neighboring countries, their democratic governance, and their reliance on traditional agriculture and animal husbandry.
He highlighted the importance of expanding economic cooperation, particularly in trade, business, investment, tourism, and agriculture. Additionally, Ts. Davaasuren remarked that Mongolia has much to learn from Uruguay’s expertise in agriculture.
Martin Orlando congratulated Mongolia on the successful approval of next year’s state budget and expressed gratitude for the opportunity to meet. He shared that Uruguay will inaugurate its new Parliament and President in March next year and expressed confidence in the further advancement of inter-parliamentary cooperation.
Orlando reiterated Uruguay’s strong desire to enhance collaboration with Mongolia, acknowledging the democratic values and shared interests of the two nations. He also discussed with Chair Ts. Davaasuren the possibility of formalizing partnerships between their respective Ministries of Agriculture and exploring cooperation agreements between the National University of Mongolia and Uruguay’s National University.
