The Secretary General of the State Great Hural (Parliament), B. Baasandorj, held a meeting today with François Valerian, Chair of Transparency International. The Secretary General of the State Great Hural, B. Baasandorj, introduced the State Great Hural’s current “human-centered” policy, which emphasizes protecting human rights, strengthening justice, and ensuring the implementation of laws.
He also presented information about accelerating the implementation of the National Anti-Corruption Program approved by the State Great Hural, as well as legislative initiatives under discussion aimed at reducing corruption and establishing fairness. Additionally, he expressed the desire to collaborate with Transparency International to enhance the Corruption Perceptions Index score by sharing ideas, drafting recommendations, and implementing initiatives to reinforce the role of Parliament.
François Valerian, Chair of Transparency International, expressed appreciation for the State Great Hural’s focus on human rights and law enforcement. He highlighted the importance of ensuring transparency in investor agreements when utilizing Mongolia’s natural resources to guarantee equal benefits for citizens, disclosing the ultimate owners of legal entities to the public, revising the Law on Freedom of the Media, and ensuring public interests are prioritized during energy reforms.
He also underscored the significance of law enforcement and confirmed his readiness to collaborate with the Secretariat of the State Great Hural in these areas.
