Chairman of the State Great Hural (Parliament), D. Amarbayasgalan, met today (2024.11.18) with Canada’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Mongolia, Sandra Shuffani, to discuss bilateral relations and cooperation between the legislative bodies of the two countries.
Chairman Amarbayasgalan highlighted the active development of Mongolia-Canada relations, grounded in shared values of democracy, peace, human rights, gender equality, and sustainable development. He noted Mongolia’s prioritization of strengthening comprehensive cooperation with Canada, a key “third neighbor.” This was exemplified by the elevation of bilateral ties to a Comprehensive Partnership last year.
Ambassador Shuffani emphasized the importance of enhancing Canada-Mongolia relations, particularly in trade and economic cooperation. She highlighted the launch of the “ECO-FARM” project in Mongolia this year under Canada’s development program. The project aims to strengthen local resilience to climate change through adaptive measures.
Chairman Amarbayasgalan acknowledged Canada’s global leadership in agriculture and expressed gratitude for the implementation of impactful projects and programs that contribute to Mongolia’s socio-economic development. He emphasized the crucial role of inter-parliamentary cooperation in bilateral relations and affirmed the State Great Hural’s support for initiatives and policies aimed at maintaining the frequency of political dialogue and fostering collaboration.
