H.E. Mr. D. Amarbayasgalan, Chairman of the State Great Hural, held a meeting today with H.E. Katie Smith, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Australia to Mongolia.
Chairman Amarbayasgalan highlighted the recent official visit of The Hon. Susan Lines, President of the Australian Senate, emphasizing its significance in strengthening cooperation between the legislative bodies of both countries and advancing Mongolia’s “Third Neighbor” policy to bolster bilateral relations with Australia.
He reaffirmed the State Great Hural’s support for any initiatives and policies aimed at elevating bilateral relations, maintaining the frequency of political dialogues, and broadening cooperation.
Ambassador Smith underscored Australia’s commitment to promoting regional energy transitions through the export of renewable and clean energy expertise and technology. She noted the upcoming participation of Mongolia’s Deputy Prime Minister and delegation at the International Mining and Resources Conference in Sydney, which will include a dedicated session on Mongolia’s mining and investment environment. Ambassador Smith expressed her intention to attend the conference in person, pledging to promote Mongolia’s presence and foster expanded cooperation and investment in the mineral resources and mining sectors.
Additionally, both parties acknowledged the importance of establishing a Social Protection Agreement and an Air Services Agreement, in response to the growing people-to-people exchanges between the two countries. These agreements are seen as essential steps in developing a legal framework that supports current needs in bilateral relations.
