Chairman of the State Great Hural (Parliament) D.Amarbayasgalan Honors Retired Parliamentary Staff

On the occasion of International Day of Older Persons, Chairman of the State Great Hural (Parliament) of Mongolia D.Amarbayasgalan, accompanied by Secretary General B.Baasandorj and senior officials of the Parliamentary Secretariat, hosted a reception on September 20, 2024, at the State Palace to honor retired staff who had served the Parliament and its Secretariat.

 

In his remarks, Chairman D.Amarbayasgalan expressed gratitude for their contributions, stating: "On behalf of the State Great Hural, I extend my deep appreciation for your dedication and hard work in establishing and strengthening our Parliament." He emphasized that the current Parliament, with 126 members representing five political parties and coalitions, is committed to advancing Mongolia’s democratic governance and fostering a humane, civil society.

 


The Chairman highlighted key achievements, including enhanced gender representation, with 32 female members, positioning Mongolia as a regional leader in gender equality in governance. He also outlined the forthcoming "New Generation Parliament 2.0" strategy, which will be introduced at the 2024 autumn session, aiming to further modernize and strengthen parliamentary functions.

 

Chairman D.Amarbayasgalan underscored the public's trust in the Parliament, which has been reinforced by research, and detailed efforts to improve the legal framework. He noted that 54 working groups have been established to review and update legislation, with a focus on eliminating bureaucracy, corruption, and inequality.

 

In conclusion, Chairman D.Amarbayasgalan reaffirmed the Parliament's commitment to expanding its role at the international and regional levels, while continuing to uphold the principles of transparency, research-based decision-making, and future-oriented governance.
