The Chairman of the State Great Hural G.Zandanshatar met with Mrs. Kim Young-joo, Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea today (February 16, 2023). 

At the beginning of the meeting, Chairman of the State Great Hural G. Zandanshatar has expressed his gratitude to Mrs. Kim Young-joo, for her valuable contribution to the development of the relations and cooperation between Mongolia and the Republic of Korea, especially between the legislative bodies.

The Chairman mentioned that the State Great Hural is making great effort for maturing the participatory parliament and has, in this context, organized a Deliberative Polling, which was attended by the delegates who can represent all people of Mongolia. More than 800 citizens participated in this deliberative polling that aims to discuss the country's socio-economic difficulties together with the citizens and determine ways to solve them, and a press conference will be held to inform the public on the results of the polling, he said.

While expressing her pleasure to meet with the Chairman of the State Great Hural once again, Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea Mrs. Kim Young-joo noted that she plans to implement projects and programs that will promote the intensification of relations and cooperation between the two countries. For instance, she has mentioned about the plan to implement a project to support children's health in cooperation with the "Green" hospital of South Korea, to reduce diseases caused by the environment, including air pollution, and to expand help for respiratory diseases, as well as to enroll Mongolian doctors in professional training programs.

The Chairman of the State Great Hural G. Zandanshatar spoke that State Great Hural in cooperation with Ban Ki-moon Foundation and Stenford University of the US and Ewha Woman University of the Republic of Korea, has been preparing for the organization of the international forum "Trans-Altai Northeast Sustainable Dialogue" in Ulaanbaatar in June, 2023. It is believed that this forum will make a clear progress in ensuring peace and sustainability in the region and strengthening trust and mutual understanding between the countries. The Chairman G.Zandanshatar has invited Mrs. Kim Young-joo to be the keynote speaker at the Women's Leadership Forum, a side event of the forum.

The Chairman G.Zandanshatar also expressed his intention to continue cooperation with the Korean side in the establishment of a parliamentary association of the countries belonging to the Ural-Altaic language group, and asked the Deputy Speaker’s support to pay attention to ensuring the participation of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea in this sphere.

The parties emphasized the successful cooperation of the two countries at the UN and international and regional arena, and talked about the further cooperation in all aspects, such as bringing trade and economic relations to a new stage and supporting the exchange of citizens.
