An online meeting of the Standing Committee on Budget and Planning of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA) was held today (August 4, 2021) at 3:00 pm Ulaanbaatar time. Member of the State Great Hural Mrs. Kh.Bulgantuya represented the State Great Hural (Parliament) of Mongolia at the meeting.
The online meeting was chaired by Mr.Lyashchenko AV, Member of the State Duma of the Russian Federation and Chairman of the APA Group in the State Duma, and was attended by 35 members of parliaments from 12 countries.
At this meeting, the issue of setting the membership fee for the member countries of the Assembly was discussed. Participants discussed how to improve operations and organization, budget transparency and efficient management of financial resources of the Assembly.
It should be noted that the Asian Parliamentary Assembly, established in 2006, has 44 members and 14 observers. Asian countries need to work closely together in many fields, to establish peace and security in the region, to stabilize the status of Asian countries in the international arena, to promote democracy, to increase the role of Asian parliaments in world affairs, to balance the economy and trade. The APA is an important dialogue platform for expanding multilateral cooperation among Asian countries in the areas of development, poverty, corruption, human rights violations, human trafficking and the fight against terrorism.
Members of the State Great Hural (Parliament) of Mongolia have been actively participating in the APA sessions as reported by the Media and Public Relations Department of the State Great Hural.
