Mr. B.Battumur, Chair of a Standing Committee met with Mr. Muhammad Al-Mutairi, Ambassador of Kuwait to Mongolia


Mr. B.Battumur, a member of the State Great Hural (Parliament) and Chair of the Security and Foreign Policy Standing Committee, met with Mr. Muhammad Al-Mutairi, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Kuwait to Mongolia on March 17, 2021, where the parties exchanged views on bilateral co-operation. 

Mr. B.Battumur and Mr. Muhammad Al-Mutariri noted that last year marked the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, the parties further expressed gratitude for successful cooperation between the two countries in the area of trade, economy, and humanitarian affairs and especially in the area of parliamentary cooperation.

The Standing Committee Chair stressed the importance of implementing joint projects and programs, expanding trade and economic cooperation, and increasing investment. In this regard, he suggested working together on the introduction of Mongolian products to the markets of Kuwait and the Gulf countries, and the development of tourism.

Mongolia attaches great importance to her co-operation with the country of Kuwait. Projects and programs being implemented with Kuwaiti grant aid are currently running on schedule. The Government of Kuwait provided a grant of 8 million USD for the construction of the Central Hospital for Burn Injuries and a grant equaling 3.5 million USD for the Undurkhaan Airport Renovation Project. The Chair further expressed his appreciation to the Kuwaiti Foundation for its decision to provide a grant of approximately 500,000 USD for the development of a feasibility study for the Undurkhaan-Norovlin-Dadal road project.

Mongolia and Kuwait have great potential for co-operation in trade, economy and tourism. A number of events were initially planned for the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, unfortunately, certain activities were postponed as a result of the pandemic. Ambassador Mr. Muhammad Al-Mutairi expressed that tourism and air transportation projects and programs are currently at its negotiation stage.

During the meeting, the parties reaffirmed their commitment to improving bilateral relations in all areas.
