Chairman G.Zandanshatar called on the world parliamentarians to work together to strengthen global solidarity in the fight against the pandemic

H.E. Mr. G.Zandanshatar, the Chairman of the State Great Hural of Mongolia, and Ms. Kh.Bulgantuya, a member of the State Great Hural, have participated and delivered speech at the ad Hoc virtual meeting of the Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum on Global Health held on April 26, 2021.


The virtual meeting is focused on the current Covid-19 pandemic situation in the Asia-Pacific region and discussing the variants of the virus, the vaccine availability and accessibilities along with the pandemic’s impact on health and economy.

This is the second virtual meeting after the first event in 2020 and the State Great Hural (Parliament) of Mongolia is the host of the regular session of the Forum.


In his speech, the Chairman G.Zandanshatar has stated the COVID-19 pandemic situation of Mongolia including the actions being taken, the vaccination processes, the activities of the Temporary Committee responsible for overseeing, reviewing and making recommendations on the implementations of the Law on Reducing the Negative Impact on the Economy that is to prevent, combat with the Covid-19 outbreak and touched upon the “10 trillion MNT Comprehensive Plan to Protect Health and Recover the Economy” introduced by the Government of Mongolia.

He said that Mongolia has received 1,450,640 doses of 5 different types of vaccines and started vaccinating its general public on 23 February 2021. At the national level, 678,200 people have been vaccinated by the first dose and 212,300 thousand people have been administered by the second doses which constitutes a total of 890,600 people. It accounts for 32.8% percent of the target population and the further aim is to vaccinate 60% of the population by 30 June this year.

At the conclusion of his speech, Chairman G.Zandanshatar called on the world parliamentarians to work together to strengthen global solidarity in the fight against the pandemic, share scientific knowledge, promote multilateral cooperation, recover the damage caused by the pandemic to and revive the economy.


In her speech, Ms. Kh.Bulgantuya MP, thanked the parliamentarians for drawing global attention to global issues such as the prevention, mitigation and response to the global coronavirus epidemics, and for jointly assessing the current and future risks. She has emphasized the importance of holding such events on a regular basis to support global efforts in the fight against the virus, and to mutually support each other’s and to address the issue together.
