MP L.Enkh-Amgalan, the Chairman of the Standing Committee on State Structures at the State Great Hural (Parliament) of Mongolia has put a request for cooperation and assistance on supplying vaccines to Mongolia during recent virtual meetings with the Ambassadors Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary accredited to Mongolia from Canada, Japan, the Russian Federation, the United States of America and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the parliament has already established an ad-Hoc committee consists of chairmen of all Standing Committees of the State Great Hural and set up a working group, headed by the Minister of Finance, in charge of the Covid-19 vaccine supplies and inoculations.
Mr. L.Enkh-Amgalan expressed, as a Chairman of the Standing Committee on State Structures, that the health issues and inoculation of more than 20,000 employees of the public service sector, who are working at risky environments of infection clusters and quarantine zones of Ulaanbaatar and 21 other aimags are the most urgent and should be the priority.
According to the UK Ambassador Philip Malone, Mongolia has signed the COVAX program and is the fourth country on the list for the implementation of the program. The COVAX program is a multi-lateral cooperation program to help delivering Covid-19 vaccines to developing and least developed countries.
The virtual meeting summaries were delivered to Deputy Prime Minister Mr. Ya.Sodbaatar, Finance Minister Mr. Ch.Khurelbaatar, Foreign Minister Mr. N.Enkhtaivan, Health Minister Mr. T.Munkhsaikhan and Civil Service Council Chairman Mr. B.Baatarzorig along with recommendations to include in the vaccine supply plans and cooperate closely with the countries that have been mentioned.
