On June 17, 2021, Mr.T.Ayursaikhan, Vice-Chairman of the State Great Hural (Parliament) of Mongolia, Chair of Mongolia-Turkey parliamentary group received H.E.Mr.Zafer Ates, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Turkey to Mongolia. 

At the beginning of the meeting, Vice-Chairman Mr.T.Ayursaikhan congratulated Mr.Zafer Ates on his appointment as Ambassador of Turkey to Mongolia and wished him every success. He further assumed that a lot of work needs to be done to expand bilateral relations and cooperation between the two countries and expressed his eagerness to expand and strengthen parliamentary relations, including cooperation between the two parliamentary friendship groups.

At the courtesy call on Turkish President by the Chairman of the State Great Hural (Parliament) of Mongolia and during his official visit to Turkey in 2018, the two sides set a goal to increase trade turnover between the two countries by 10 times. Within this framework, the Vice-Chairman stressed the importance of increasing direct flight frequencies between the two countries, developing tourism, improving cargo capacity, and developing mutually beneficial relations in economic field. He also wanted Turkish side to pay attention and cooperate in implementing the projects of constructing a local airport in Kharkhorin and a tourist complex based on the historical and cultural heritages in the Orkhun valley.   

While thanking the Vice-Chairman for his warm welcome, the Ambassador Mr. Zafer Ates expressed his commitment to expanding bilateral relations with Mongolia in the political, legislative, trade, economic and cultural fields. In particular, the Ambassador expressed interest in advancing cooperation in civil aviation, urban development and investment sector.

During the meeting, the two sides exchanged their views on other issues, including expanding cooperation and sharing experiences in the areas of education, culture, agriculture and light industry.
