Монгол Today, Chairman of the State Great Hural Mr. Zandanshatar Gombojav received Mr. Alex Haikens, UNICEF Representative to Mongolia and Mr.Tim Jenkins, People In Need Country Director to Mongolia.
At the beginning of the meeting, Mr Chairman noted that UNICEF is making an important contribution to ensuring and protecting children's rights in Mongolia. Despite the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic, 16 SGD goals have been successfully implemented and these goals can be fully achieved by strengthening democracy and justice in the political, economic and social spheres.
Mr. Chairman further stressed the importance of the voices of youth and children in the development of democracy. For the first time, this parliament has initiated parliamentary education program and has planned to organize mini parliamentary activities throughout the country involving youth and children from 21 aimags and 9 districts.
During the meeting, the parties discussed and exchanged views on Mongolian culture, education and children's health. Resident Representative Mr.Alex Haikens emphasized the importance of a combination of flexibility and awareness, with fresh air and a healthy school environment playing a leading role in the development of children and youth.
At the end of the meeting, Mr Chairman emphasized the ongoing legal reforms in Mongolia and expressed the parliament’s support for UNICEF for all its initiatives aimed at supporting the development of children and youth in Mongolia.
