Draft bill on “Some measures to implement the law on the rights of persons with disabilities” is presented

On April 11, 2017, members of the State Great Hural (Parliament) of Mongolia Ts.Tsogzolmaa, O.Baasankhuu, M.Bilegt, Ts.Garamjav, G.Munkhtsetseg, D.Sarangerel, B.Saranchimeg and N.Uchral presented a draft bill on “Some measures to implement the Law on the rights of persons with disabilities” to the Chairman of the Parliament M.Enkhbold.


Mongolia joined the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities in 2008 and ratified the Law on the rights of persons with disabilities in February of 2016 that enables persons with disabilities to ensure equal rights by participating in public relations as well as being self-confidence to be employed, adequate social services such as to study and get health care services. In Mongolia, there are 101,730 persons with disabilities, of which 10 percent are children.

During the bill handing ceremony, MP Ts.Tsogzolmaa noted that a discussion themed “Law implementation and future objectives: The rights of persons with disabilities” was organized in order to create conditions for the right to enjoy their dignity, fundamental human rights and have social equality. The draft bill is presented based on the discussion’s summary following the participants’ requests and proposals.
