MPs G.Damdinnyam and Kh.Bulgantuya are participating the 7th Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians


Mr.G.Damdinnyam and Ms. Kh.Bulgantuya, members of the State Great Hural(Parliament) of Mongolia, are participating the 7th Global Conference of YoungParliamentarians of the IPU.

The 142ndAssembly of the Inter Parliamentary Union (IPU) will convene in May. As part ofthe preparations for the Assembly, the IPU Standing Committees, Working Groups,Forums of Women Parliamentarians and the Young Parliamentarians have startedorganizing virtual meetings from 26 May 2021.

The 7th GlobalConference of Young Parliamentarians of the IPU is being organized online underthe theme “Post Covid-19 recovery: A youth-responsive approach”.


Representing the parliament Mr. G.Damdinnyam and Ms. Kh.Bulgantuya, members of the StateGreat Hural (Parliament) of Mongolia, are participating in this two-day virtualconference. The IPU's annual International Conference of Young Parliamentariansis a unique platform for young parliamentarians to come together, exchangeviews, and learn and identify common and innovative strategies for buildingyouth capacity.

Mr. MartinChungong, the IPU Secretary General and Mr.Melvin Buwa, a parliament member ofthe Republic of Suriname and President of the IPU Young ParliamentariansAssembly have opened the conference, which was attended by 204 delegates frommore than 80 countries.

The health,social and economic impacts caused by the Covid-19 pandemic are affectingespecially the young people in every corner of the globe. Therefore, the IPUbelieves that the commencing of a new era of youth empowerment should be at theheart of post-pandemic recovery.

In a bid tobuild intergenerational solidarity and support, and to mobilize and share bestpractices of parliamentarians of all ages toward youth empowerment, the 7thConference is open to both young and senior parliamentarians.


During its 1session, the 7th Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians of the IPUannounced the launch of the “Let's Say Yes to Parliamentary Youth” campaign toensure the youth participation. Members of the State Great Hural Mr. G.Damdinnyamand Ms. Kh.Bulgantuya have pledged their support and active participation inthe campaign.

The conferenceparticipants have unanimously voiced and shared their experiences as an effortto mitigate the impact of the crisis on youth and contribute to ayouth-responsive, effective and sustainable recovery from global crisis andthey have recognized that parliaments need the participation and leadership oftheir young members, as well as a strong intergenerational partnership betweentheir young and senior members.

The conference will generate debatesunder 4 topics as Youth participation; Defining youth-responsive recovery fromthe COVID-19 pandemic; Developing education system; Strengthening healthservice; and will produce an outcome document which will constitute a rapportcontributing to the 142 IPU Assembly which will be convened in May2021 under the theme of “Overcoming the pandemic today and building a bettertomorrow: the role of parliaments”.
