Weekly review for November 22-26, 2021


Upon initiation of Chairman of the State Great Hural, Mongolian Youth Parliament is formed, a peer-to-peer educational program that brought together 90 youths from 21 aimags of Mongolia and 9 districts of the capital city, has been successfully implementing its program to debate the pressing issues of our time. The program aims to inspire and empower a young generation about democracy, human rights, freedom, the legislature, and decision-making, and to support youth participation in decision-making through knowledge about sustainable development goals and climate change. In the framework of the program, the “Morning tea” workshop was organized on November 20th, where Chairman G.Zandanshatar and Secretary-General of the State Great Hural Ms. L.Ulziisaikhan have participated.


November 22, 2021. Chairman of the State Great Hural G.Zandanshatar received newly appointed members of the Judicial Disciplinary Committee. The Committee is a newly established constitutional body in accordance with the 2019 amendments to the Constitution of Mongolia.


November 22, 2021. Chairman of the State Great Hural G.Zandanshatar addressed the 29th Session of the Asia and Pacific Commission on Agricultural Statistics that focused on topics such as the impact of COVID-19 on statistical operations, challenges, and development for SDG indicators, and the use of earth observation data.


The State Structure Standing Committee and Local Government Sub-committee of the State Great Hural in collaboration with the Civil Service Council of Mongolia hosted a training on the implementation of the Civil Service Law in Sukhbaatar aimag. Within the framework of the training, the Law on Administrative and Territorial Units and Their Management, which will come into force on January 1, 2022, was introduced and a discussion was held on the draft law on the legal status of cities and villages.


November 23, 2021. Chairman of the State Great Hural G.Zandanshatar received the Deputy Marshal of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland Małgorzata Gosiewska.


November 22, 2021. The Parliamentary Research Institute of Secretariat of the State Great Hural in cooperation with the Secretariat of the Swiss Parliament organized training on technical cooperation.


November 23, 2021. Deputy Chairman of the State Great Hural T.Ayursaikhan received the Deputy Marshal of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland Małgorzata Gosiewska. Parties expressed their interests to boost the developing friendly relations between the two countries, and especially in strengthening the cooperation between legislatures.


November 24, 2021. The Standing Committee on State Structure of the State Great Hural, the United Nations Development Fund, and the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) jointly organized a discussion on “Political Finance and Women's Political Participation: Learning from the Korean Experience”.


November 23, 2021. The 143rd Assembly of the International Parliamentary Union, the Asia-Pacific Group Meeting was virtually organized, where the Chair of the Standing Committee on Legal Affairs, MP S.Byambatsogt participated in the e-conference.


November 24, 2021. Minister of Justice and Home Affairs, MP Kh.Nyambaatar submitted the draft law on the legal status of the Fund and the draft law on the legal status of the Federation. Minister of Nature, Environment and Tourism N.Urtnasan submitted a draft law to amend the Law on Environmental Protection. Minister of Mining and Heavy Industry G.Yondon submitted a draft law on heavy industry and other related draft laws. Minister of Finance, MP B.Javkhlan submitted the Loan Agreement between Mongolia and the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development.


November 24, 2021. Discussion on measures taken to create a citizen-friendly environment to the quality and accessibility of maternal and child health care services was held.


November 25, 2021. At the plenary session, the State Great Hural resolution on measures to take on the “Ulaanbaatar Railway”, a Mongolian-Russian joint venture company was ratified with the majority of votes. Also, 4 candidates out of 5 were appointed as non-judge members of the General Council of the Judiciary. Moreover, the first discussion of the draft law on Genetic resources was held and transferred to the affiliate Standing Committee for a final reading.


November 25, 2021. Chairman of the State Great Hural G.Zandanshatar received the heads of universities and institutes of the Irkutsk region of the Russian Federation. Mongolia and the Russian Federation commemorate the 100th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations that marks in November 2021.


November 25, 2021. Chairman of the State Great Hural G.Zandanshatar received the Minister of State for External Affairs of the Republic of India Rajkumar Ranjan Singh.


November 25, 2021. The 4th meeting of the Permanent Meeting Mechanism between the State Great Hural (Parliament) of Mongolia and the National People's Congress (NPC) of the People's Republic of China (PRC) was virtually organized.


November 26, 2021. On the occasion of the 97th anniversary of the adoption of the First Constitution of the Republic of Mongolia, the President of Mongolia U.Khurelsukh, the Chairman of the State Great Hural G.Zandanshatar, the Prime Minister L.Oyun-Erdene and other members of the State Great Hural laid flowers at the statue of D.Sukhbaatar and paid tribute to the statue of Chinggis Khaan.


November 26, 2021. Chairman of the State Great Hural G.Zandanshatar received winners of “The Value of Independence” essay and drawing contests. Over 200 children participated in the contest.
