Chairman G.Zandanshatar received Ambassador of Japan to Mongolia H.Kobayashi


On March 17, 2021, Chairman of the State Great Hural (Parliament) of Mongolia G.Zandanshatar received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Mongolia Hiroyuki Kobayashi.

At the beginning of meeting, Chairman G.Zandanshatar noted that Mongolia's relations and cooperation with its “third neighbor” Japan, are deepening and progressing at the level of Strategic Partnership.

During the period of 1977 to 2019, the Government of Japan provided a total of 332.4 billion yen (3.0 billion USD) in loans and grants to Mongolia. Recent soft loans and grants are provided in support of the purchase of medical supplies, equipment and vaccines as part of COVID-19 epidemic response. In this regard, the Chairman further expressed his appreciation to the Government and the people of Japan for their assistance and support to Mongolians in times of difficulty.

Mongolia and Japan are part of the East Asia region. The two countries share in common, a way of life, culture, customs and traditions. Chairman also noted Mongolia’s interest in studying Japanese development policy and planning models, obtaining consulting services, and expanding technical cooperation. He expressed his wishes to further develop the two countries’ relations in the framework of development cooperation.

Ambassador H.Kobayashi noted that Japan is providing official development support, loans and assistance to Mongolia in a number of areas. He further expressed that of these, development policy assistance is a significant, valued area of foreign relations for Japan. And that, in this regard, was pleased to be working together in this area and sharing Japan’s experiences.

During the meeting, parties discussed areas of cooperation between the parliaments of both counties namely the activities to be implemented in the following year within the framework of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, and the promotion of Japan's best development models and experiences in Mongolia.
